Olanda - trenuri misterr

NS orders 60 new double-decker trainsets from the Spanish train manufacturer CAF. The contract for this was signed in Spain last Monday. The special thing about this train is that it consists of single-deck and double-deck coaches. As a result, the train offers a high capacity of seats and improved accessibility for people in wheelchairs.

The new trains that will be on the ground floor will eventually replace part of the DDZ double-deckers and are an extension of the current fleet. It concerns 30 double-deckers consisting of four carriages and 30 double-deckers with six carriages. The total number of seats is 30,000. The first trains are expected to run in 2028. The investment has a value of 600 million euros.

Comfort and furnishings
The example shown is still a concept and can be adjusted in the coming period. Just like the new and renewed trainsets, it will be provided with the 'NS Flow' livery. The train will have a ground floor entrance and will offer extra seating capacity in the middle where the double-decker coaches are located. The train will also be equipped with charging points at all seats, Wi-Fi, travel information screens and comfortable seats. The maximum speed of the train will be a maximum of 160 kilometers per hour and the train is only suitable for the conventional network, and therefore not on the HSL line. However, the train will be equipped with the ETCS signalling system, which will be rolled out over the most important railway lines in the coming decades. The train will also be equipped with the older ATB protection system, which is now integrated into the ETCS screen in the driver's cab.

Second collaboration with CAF
"We have had good experiences with this manufacturer. Our most recent Sprinters (type SNG) are built by CAF and drive through the Netherlands to all satisfaction. We look forward to working together for this new train," says Roel Okhuijsen, director of new rolling stock at NS.

It is the second collaboration that NS has with CAF. The NS has already ordered 206 SNG Sprinters from this Spanish manufacturer, with two orders for this Sprinter. The delivery of this will be completed soon as the last sets of this will be delivered.

Design and production
The order with CAF was already announced in August, but it was not yet final so that other participants in the tender could appeal. With the expiry of this deadline, the contract could finally be signed on Monday. This means that the phase in which the final design of the train is designed is now first started. After the design is final, an extensive phase of production, testing and admission follows. When looking at the roll-out of other equipment, the first train is expected to roll out the factory in 2025 or 2026.

The contract offers the possibility for additional orders in the future and for ordering similar trains that can cross the border.

Last Tuesday, the last SNG Sprinter arrived at NS. In total, 206 Civity trainsets have been delivered by the Spanish train builder CAF in the past few years.

The SNG was mainly purchased to replace the old SGM Sprinter, but also to accommodate the passenger growth. The contract has a value of more than 900 million euros. The delivery of the first trainset took place in 2017 after the contract was signed in 2014, involving a delivery of 118 trainsets. In 2018, NS announced that they had placed a follow-up order for the delivery of 88 trains of this type. This follow-up series is equipped with some technical improvements compared to the first series, but is not different for passenger comfort. All SNG trainsets have a total of approximately 35,000 seats.

Of the 206 couples, 200 are currently in service. Four of these are still being prepared for deployment, one is being used by CAF for test purposes related to automatic steering (ATO) (3003) and another couple (2304) has been removed after collision damage at Hooghalen. Two couples (3021 and 2770) have been converted as a test for test drives as Schiphol Sprinter to test a one-man company and are currently on the sidelines after their test operation.

Transport
The transport of the SNG is special because of the location of the workshop in Beasain. Because there is broad gauge in Spain for which these trains are not suitable, the couples were mainly transported from the port of Bilbao to the Netherlands by boat. From the port of Rotterdam Botlek, the train parts were transported on a low-loader to the Amsterdam Zaanstraat workshop to make them ready for use. A small number of trains were transported to the Netherlands via French and German rail.

Order new double deck generation
Train builder CAF will build even more trains for NS in the coming years. This is the New Double-deck generation (DD-NG) which is expected to have sixty trainsets that are mixed single and double-deck. This investment has a value of 600 million euros. The first train is expected to roll out of the factory in 2025 or 2026 to begin the test and admission runs.

The new, faster NS train is being tested again today on the route between Amsterdam Centraal and Rotterdam Centraal. The so-called Intercity New Generation also ran some test drives on Wednesday, but had to stop because there were problems with the doors.

"It drives around as we speak," an NS spokesman said Thursday morning. The train left at 6.30 am and was there early just like the day before.

On Wednesday evening, the test drives were briefly halted due to problems with the doors. "With one door, a small connection didn't work. As a result, the driver received no confirmation that all doors were closed."

The problem is now fixed. The NS spokesperson emphasizes that the test phase is precisely intended to detect these types of problems.

If testing goes well, a second Intercity New Generation (ICNG) will be tested sometime in the coming weeks. Ultimately, the ICNGs will replace the current intercity trains on the high-speed line between Amsterdam, Schiphol and Rotterdam.

The new trains can reach a speed of 200 kilometres per hour. "When the driver was driving 200 kilometres per hour yesterday, he said he heard cheers from the compartment behind him," says the NS spokesman. According to her, train enthusiasts have already made several trips on the new train on Wednesday.

Re: Rame electrice Alstom Coradia Stream bogdan88
