Metrou automat in Viena

Iar angajatii vor putea oferi servicii orientate catre clienti, in loc sa conduca aceste trenuri.

Prima etapa a constructiei liniei U5 are in vedere folosirea tronsonului Karlsplatz – Rathaus (pe linia existenta U2) si realizarea unui tronson nou pana la Frankhplatz - Altes AKH, tronson prevazut spre finalizare in 2023.

Trenurile cu sase vagoane vor avea caracteristicile celor aflate deja in operare in oras, indeplinind, in acelasi timp, cele mai moderne standarde internationale de siguranta.

Wiener Linien, the public transport operator of Vienna, awarded a EUR 242 million contract for the construction of two lots of the extension of U2 and U5 lines.

The contract was awarded to a consortium comprising Hochtief Infrastructure Austria, Swietelsky and Habau Hoch und Tiefbau. Hochtief has a share of approximately
EUR 80 million. The preparatory works have started, and construction will take almost six years.

The contract is part of the U2xU5 intersection which will close a major gap in the inner-city metro network. The project covers the U2 line extension from Vienna City Hall (Rathaus station) and the construction of the first section of the new U5 to Frankhplatz/Altes AKH. Following on from the extension of the U2 to Aspern in the north-east of the city, a completely new southbound branch will be added to the U2 from the Rathaus station. Work on extending the U2 from Rathaus (U5) began in autumn 2018 and will cross the Neubaugasse (U3), Pilgramgasse (U4) and Reinprechtsdorfer Straße to the provisional final stop at Matzleinsdorfer Platz, where passengers will able to change to suburban trains. This new section is scheduled to enter passenger operation in 2026. A further extension of the new U2 southbound line via Gußriegelstraße to Wienerberg is planned for a later phase.

As part of the U2xU5 project, 11 new stations and 9 kilometres of new underground tracks will be built, of which 6 km for the U2 and 3 for the U5.

The project also includes a new public transport hub at Neubaugasse, where U2 will cross under the existing U3 tunnels about 37 metres below ground level. Neubaugasse station is expected to become the second busiest underground hub in the Vienna network, nearly reaching the passenger numbers of the central station underneath St. Stephen’s square (the Stephansplatz station).

The U5 will be Vienna’s first fully automated metro line. It will take over the U2 section between Rathaus and Karlsplatz from 2027 and initially operate to Frankhplatz, next to Altes AKH. The new metro line will then be extended to Hernals in the next phase of expansion.

The underground construction work will has started in January at the future new building station at Frankhplatz (U5) and in the vicinity of the U2xU5 Rathaus junction. Further construction work along the new 4.5 km long U2 route will start in the first quarter of 2021.

The total investments at the end of the project amount to EUR 2.1 billion euros covered by the Austrian Government, Wiener Linien and the City of Vienna.

Re: Viena: U-Bahn (metroul) PTMZ

Siemens Mobility and Wiener Linien have successfully completed the first test run of the new X-Wagen metro train.

The test includes, among other things, the drive and braking system, the safety equipment and the train protection with the driver. In the next few months, numerous tests will be carried out with artificially loaded wagons and the train protection system will also be tested for fully automatic operation. In addition, the X-Wagen must prove itself in acoustics measurements and driving comfort measurements. The evidence and reports provided by the tests serve as the basis for the operating license.

After several thousand test kilometers and a successful operating permit, the train will be put into passenger transport from 2022 on the U1 to U4 lines.

With the completion of the new U5 from Frankhplatz to Karlsplatz in 2026, the X-Wagen metro train will be fully automated for the first time.

“The X-Wagen is a success story for our climate model city and an outstanding example for Vienna as a business location. With the productionat the Siemens plant in Simmering, the X-Wagen proves itself to be a ‘genuine Viennese’, as 60 percent of the added value stays in Vienna, 35 percent in the EU. The X-Wagen secures more than 100 jobs in Vienna in the long term. The new metro train will make the public transport even more attractive and modern and enables fully automatic operation in our city,” Peter Hanke, the Executive City Councillor said.

In July 2020, the first six-car train has been delivered to Wiener Linien. Since then. “The X-Wagen will be in passenger services as an experienced train from Wiener Linien and will have already completed several thousand test kilometers on over 250 test days,” Günter Steinbauer, the Managing Director of Wiener Linien said.

The first car of the second train is expected to be delivered to Wiener Linien at the end of 2021, and another five X-cars will be built in Simmering in 2022. From 2023 to 2030, Siemens Mobility will deliver up to four more trains per year to Wiener Linien. Starting with the second X-Wagen, every train will be in passenger service after around three months of delivery.

The X-Wagen manufactured in Vienna consists of 90 percent recyclable materials and is energy-efficient and friendly environmental from the production stage to operation.

In 2017, Wiener Linien awarded Siemens Mobility a contract to deliver 34 six-car X-Wagen trains with an option for 11 additional vehicles, suitable for automated operation (GOA4) and driver operation.
