Re: Turcia - Istanbul PTMZ

TWO new metro lines totalling 12.9km are planned for Istanbul, Turkey’s transport and infrastructure minister, Mr Adil Karaismailoğlu, has announced.

The first 4.5km line will connect the neighbourhoods of Altunizade and Çamlıca in the Üsküdar district on the Asian side of the city, Daily Sabah reports.

The second 8.4km line will connect the Kazlıçeşme and Sirkeci neighbourhoods on the European side of Istanbul, Karaismailoğlu said.

Istanbul is currently served by a 251km metro network, which will be extended to 342km once projects currently underway are completed.

Work is ongoing on six lines, including the Pendik – Tavşantepe – Sabiha Gökçen Airport line on the Asian side, and the Bakırköy – Kirazlı, Başakşehir – Kayaşehir, Gayrettepe – Istanbul Airport and Halkalı – Istanbul Airport lines on the European side of the city.

The 31.5km, 120km/h Gayrettepe – Istanbul Airport (M11) line, which will reduce travel times from the city centre to the airport to 35 minutes, is due to be completed by the end of the year, Karaismailoğlu confirmed.

Re: Turcia - Istanbul PTMZ

Alstom was awarded a new contract to install a complete driverless CBTC (communications-based train control) signalling system and electromechanical infrastructure for the Istanbul metro Line M12.

This contract will not only enhance the existing infrastructure quality but also advance reliability, travel comfort and reduce maintenance cost for the operator.

Alstom, through Gulermak and Nurol joint venture, will ensure that the 13-km long Umraniye-Atasehir-Goztepe (UAG) metro line will operate as a fully automatic and driverless system.

The line, which will connect Marmaray, Uskudar-Umraniye-Cekmekoy-Sancaktepe (M5) and Kadikoy-Kartal-Kaynarca (M4) metro lines, will have 11 stations ecquipped with the highest level of safety measures. The line will be compatible and interoperable with the the Dudullu-Bostanci (M8) metro line signalling system.

“We are thrilled to carry out our second largest signalling project in Istanbul within the last three months. As a leader of sustainable and innovative mobility, we are committed to continue advancing Istanbul’s rail system network with our latest technology solutions,”  Volkan Karakilinc, the Managing Director of Alstom Turkey said.

Istanbul metro Line M12 will be the third important project that was undertaken by Alstom within the last three months. Alstom is currently carrying out the signalling works for the Istanbul Cekmekoy-Sancaktepe-Sultanbeyli (CSS) line and the Bandirma-Bursa-Yenisehir-Osmaneli (BBYO) line.

The construction of the new line was halted in 2017 and since September 2019 they were resumed. In 2018, the President of Turkey inaugurated the second extension of the line.

The new M12 line is expected to be opened by the end of 2022 and will have a capacity of 44,000 passengers per hour per direction.

Istanbul is committed to expand the public transport system. From 2020 until 2021, the city has opened 18 km of metro lines and by the end of this year, the authorities plan to open 18.2 km of new metro connections. The public transport strategy also includes the construction of 58 km of new metro lines, 41.5 km expected to enter passenger service in 2023 and 16.7 km in 2024.

Re: Turcia - Istanbul Andi_C
