Un film din anul 2000 de pe vremea cand se fabrica ICE 3 pentru DB si NS.

Astăzi acum 23 de ani a avut loc deraierea de la Eschede, în urma căreia au murit 101 oameni. Rămâne cel mai grav accident feroviar din istoria Germaniei și cel mai grav accident feroviar ce a implicat un tren de mare viteză. Deraierea s-a datorat unei roți uzate a trenului ICE.

Acest accident a făcut și subiectul unui documentar din seria „Seconds from Disaster”. Recomand acest serial, în special primele 3 sezoane mi s-au părut foarte bine realizate...

Da, de atunci s-a micsorat semnificativ intervalul de verificare a rotilor folosind ultrasunete in halele de mententanta ICE.

Hidden in the tidal flats of the North Frisian Wadden Sea is one of Germany’s most unusual railway lines: the Lüttmoorsiel–Nordstrandischmoor island railway!

This 600 mm narrow-gauge railway connects the German mainland at Lüttmoorsiel with the Hallig of Nordstrandischmoor. Of note, this is not a public railway and is not open to visitors. The line is for use exclusively by island residents, their guests, and the coastal protection authorities responsible for maintaining the fragile Hallig environment and coastline protection structures.

More than just a railway, the Lorenbahn is an essential piece of infrastructure that helps preserve the unique way of life on the Halligs. Originally built in 1933/34 to support coastal protection works, the railway once stretched approximately 7 kilometers across the Wadden Sea. Today, around 3.5 kilometers of track remain in operation along the Lorendamm embankment, providing a vital connection between the Hallig and the mainland.

Residents operate their own small diesel-powered rail vehicles, known as "Loren", to travel between Nordstrandischmoor and the mainland. Some historic vehicles were even equipped with sails, using the strong winds of the Wadden Sea for propulsion.
